Claude C. Kenni (also rendered Crawd C. Kenny) is the main character of the sci-fi fantasy/space opera PSX RPG Star Ocean The Second Story (SO2 and its 2008 PSP remake, Star Ocean Second Evolution), the manga adaptation of the same name, and the anime adaption of the manga Star Ocean EX. He also appears in the Gameboy Color RPG Star Ocean Blue Sphere (and related manga), which takes place two years after SO2. The son of Federation hero Ronixis J. Kenni and Iria Silvestoli (both playable characters in the original Star Ocean), Claude spent the vast part of his life living in his father's shadow. He entered the Earth Federation's military academy to follow in the celebrated man's footsteps and pursue a career in the Earth Federation. But the truth was that Claude hated it. As he proceeded in his studies, moving to the top of his class, rumours abounded that his rapid progress was entirely due to his father's reputation. He had few close friends, with most of his acquaintances and colleagues only hoping to curry favour with the great Commodore Ronixis Kenni. While onboard his father's ship, the Calnus, Claude is sent down on an "Away" team to investigate an alien signal from the planet Milocinia. His desire to prove himself leads to a moment of rashness, and he is accidentally transported to the medieval planet Expel. As he tries to return to the Calnus, he is mistaken for the Expellians' legendary Warrior of Light due to his strange clothing and high technology. Friendly and altruistic by nature, Claude has a thoughtful, introspective personality and a sense of humour that can be a bit strange at times.
