The Dispossessed Headboard was my first-ever kick at the 24 Hour Comics Day can, and the first time I felt I managed to take a bunch of real-world experiences/ideas and fuse them all into a relatively coherent (i.e. straightforward) narrative. The story was cobbled together from many personal experiences, things that were happening while drawing the comic, and other in-jokes.
The Dispossessed Headboard was completed in under 21 hours between October 2 and 3, 2010 (elapsed time, without counting meals, sleeping, or travel home to finish the pages). Total time, from sketching to erasing of all pencil lines on the final completed page was 31 hours. I have no idea what possessed me to do each page in a different colour of Bic permanent marker. It was not the brightest of ideas, but doing thumbnails was a better one.
Final takeaway: sleep is a good thing.
