This is a transcript of Chapter 21 Happiness, Field of Takamagahara (Good) and (Bad). These are the two endings of Shadow Hearts: Covenant, so MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUND!!!! Don't ruin the amazing experience for yourself! The beginning of the ending is the same for both, then diverges. After the credits roll, the scene that appears is, again, the same for both endings; the sequence after that changes depending on whether you got the good or the bad ending. When spoken dialogue and subtitles diverge, the former is used. Segments surrounded by hyphens - like this - are subtitle descriptions in-game. ========== ~~~~~~~~~~ Field of Takamagahara (same for both endings) *The gang stand together. One by one, they float into the time warp and fade into the world they pray for. Gepetto and Joachim go first, then Lucia, laughing and waving, and Blanca. Kurando and Anastasia fly up together in an embrace, smiling down at Karin and Yuri, the two still remaining. After the others have gone, a light begins to glow from Yuri's chest. Karin turns to him worriedly* Yuri: Looks like time's up. It's the Mistletoe's curse. I knew I was living on borrowed time ... Karin: Are you scared? Yuri: *shaking his head* No. Karin: Will you lose your memories too? Yuri: *eyes slide away* Never. Karin: Yuri ... Yuri: Don't look at me like that. I'll see you soon. Karin: Please promise me! I don't want to lose you forever! Yuri: Yeah. *Karin reaches her arms out to him, and begins to float away like the others. One hand lingers, and Yuri grabs it suddenly* Yuri: Karin! Karin: What? Yuri: *tears in his eyes* Thank you!! *Karin smiles and nods, then lets go of him and fades into the time warp* ~~~~~~~~~~ GOOD ENDING Yuri: Sorry, I can't keep that promise ... *He stares into the empty space of the time warp* Alice's voice: I know why you stayed there alone. You were afraid to lose your self. *Yuri closes his eyes* Alice's voice: You realized the only way to protect your soul and your memories was to die. The times you spent with your friends. Your feelings for the friend you fought. All of your experiences to this point ... All that is what made you what you are, made you into the man you are today. Yes, the man I know. The man I love. *Yuri opens his eyes and smiles. A giant black spike pierces through the earth, impaling him through the back. The Periapt talisman shatters at the same moment. The spike, one among many, rises to the grey sky* *The screen fades to the Yuri in the Mistletoe* Alice's voice: Now you don't have to suffer anymore. You don't have to be alone anymore. *A halo of light emerges in the empty graveyard sky* Alice's voice: I'll always be right here by your side. *Yuri awakens, raising his head and blinking his eyes* Alice's voice: Now we'll be together ... forever. *Yuri smiles as he sees the light. Alice emerges, her hand outstretched, taking his and releasing him from the Mistletoe. The two embrace* *credits roll* ~~~~~~~~~~ BAD ENDING Yuri: I'll see you all again someday. *He stares into the empty space of the time warp* Yuri's inner voice: The adventure is over. *He closes his eyes* Yuri's inner voice: I've lost a lot. In the end, was it really worth it? Will the new future be any better? Anyway, my story is over ... I can feel it ... the Mistletoe is finally stealing away my soul. Even if I can go back to my friends, I won't really be me anymore. But then again, if it means I'll be able to live the rest of my life in peace, I guess I couldn't ask for any more. *Yuri opens his eyes and smiles. He too begins to float into the sky, fading into the time warp* *The screen fades to the Yuri in the Mistletoe. A halo of light emerges in the empty graveyard sky. Yuri awakens, raising his head and blinking his eyes. He smiles as he sees the light. Everything disintegrates into nothingness* *credits roll* ~~~~~~~~~~ AFTER CREDITS (same for both endings) - 1887. The Capital. - *The sound of a door opening and closing. Jinpachiro strides out of the building, making a right. He walks along the outer walls, then pauses and turns. Karin is lying underneath a tree, unconscious* Jinpachiro: ?! *He goes to her side, places a hand on her shoulder and turns her over slightly* Jinpachiro: Huh? *He turns his head to see a photo - the one Saki gave Karin - falling to the ground. He picks it up: it is an image of him, Karin in a fancy dress and child Yuri. He turns it over to look at the back* - 1893. Jinpachiro, Anne and three-year old Yuri. - *He gasps and looks at Karin. She moans softly and begins to open her eyes* ~~~~~~~~~~ GOOD ENDING (part 2) *The screen fades to a starry sky* - Autumn, 1913. South Manchuria. - Yuri: *wakes with a start* Whoa! That's bad. The place your heart returns to. The time you were the happiest. You can start your life over again ... *Yuri makes his way to the train platform, stops and pauses as he turns his head. The train whistle blows again* Yuri: It's that train ... *"nde/near death experience" from the Shadow Hearts soundtrack begins to play* Yuri: Heh. I kinda feel like a kid again. *He smirks as the train whistle grows louder. The screen turns black* - Not long now until Yuri meets the woman of his destiny. - *a white screen fades into view* - The End - ~~~~~~~~~~ BAD ENDING (part 2) - Autumn, 1918. Wales. - *A lone figure stands at the edge of a cliff, overlooking raging waters. The wind whips at his hair and clothes. It is Yuri* Roger's voice: Yuri?! *Yuri turns slowly and finds Roger staring at him* Roger: I never thought I'd find you in a place like this ... I've been looking all over for you ... Yuri: Yuri? Who are you? *Roger blinks, then begins to cry, wiping at his eyes. He runs up to Yuri and hugs Yuri's knees, wailing. Yuri gently pushes him away* Roger: *sniffling* You don't even remember your own father? Such a foolish son! Yuri: *startled* My father? *Roger places a hand on Yuri's ... um ... backpack* Well, let's go home now. It's cold out ... *He leads Yuri away from the cliff. The screen fades to black* - This was the year that saw the conclusion of the First World War. - *a white screen fades into view* - The End -
